VUOTI CERAMICI

Vuoti Ceramici (Ceramic Voids) is the first work created by Clino Castelli.

Its sixteen majolicas are inspired by the shape of common metal cans, decorated with traces of cobalt blue on a cobalt blue background, with marks that allude to graphic instructions for the opening and emptying of an ideal disposable container.

While this work suggests a naïve approach to ceramic technique, a deeper look reveals a playful experiment. The modeled objects are entirely submerged in the glaze, and the lacerations that expose the raw biscuit-colored material are achieved by removing the glaze before firing.

This seminal work would much later be translated into the expression "No-Form," coined by Castelli to synthesize an anti-compositional nature aimed to overcome consonant harmonies and proportional balance in favor of an "immanent" design, inherent in the object's essence and devoid of plastic tension.
