TECTONICA

The Tectonica series was first exhibited at the XVIII Triennale di Milano in 1992 and was subsequently developed in different modularities, materials, and finishes, ranging from blonde Lecce stone milled with CAD-CAM technology to cold gilded resin adorned with palladium leaf.

Seen in plan view, the surface of Tectonica — whose name alludes to the effect generated by the collision of tectonic plates — has the distinctive feature of transforming its appearance in surprising ways depending on the position of the light source and the observer, thanks to its multiple facets.

The aesthetic power of this faceted surface stages a universal expressive code based on the repetition of a single geometric imprint, which Castelli has developed over the years into a kind of figurative monomania. Tectonica embodies his "No-Form" vision: the affirmation of the primacy of matter, endowed with an intrinsic expressiveness.
